Born in New Orleans and raised in Oakland, CA, singer/songwriter Ledisi has wowed fans with her unparalleled vocals ever since she burst onto the scene twenty years ago. She has truly earned a place in the pantheon of the greatest singers of her generation. Ledisi is a favorite of The Obamas and a long list of icons including the late-Prince, Patti LaBelle, Smokey Robinson, Stevie Wonder, Chaka Khan and so many more. She has headlined two nationally sold-out tours, performed alongside Dave Matthews, Kelly Clarkson, Vince Gill and Maxwell as well as jazz greats Herbie Hancock and Patti Austin.

After a distinguished two-decade career Ledisi earned her first Grammy award (for Best Traditional R&B Performance for her hit song, Anything for You) in 2021. She has been nominated a total of 14 times. Since arriving on the scene in the 2000s, she’s garnered three Soul Train Music awards, an NAACP Theater Award and 12 NAACP Image Award nominations including an acting nomination this year for Breakthough Performance In a Film for “Remember Me.” Ledisi has two LA Alliance Ovation Award nominations, one for Best Featured Actress in a Musical.

In addition to her career in music, Ledisi has journeyed into the TV and film world, with her first feature in Leatherheads, a role in Selma, a performance in “The Tale Of Four,” and a role playing Patti LeBelle in the BET series American Soul. She is also active in the theater, with appearances in Caroline or ChangeWitness Uganda, and “The Legend of Little Girl Blue, which she co-wrote and co-produced. She also helped workshop the Tony Award winning musical The Color Purple. She is also an author of two books, Better Than Alright: Finding Peace, Love and Power and Don’t Ever Lose Your Walk: How to Embrace Your Journey and owns her own publishing company, Chinweya Publishing Company. Ledisi is extremely passionate about being an advocate for the Arts, lobbying for young musicians and protecting the rights of creatives and is the first Artist in Residence at the Berklee School of Music.

This month Ledisi embarked on the Soul II Soul US Tour with four-time GRAMMY-nominated singer and songwriter KEM and their musical guest Musiq Soulchild. The tour kicked off on February 3rd in Columbia, SC and will traverse 31 states. She also will be performing her Grammy-nominated album Ledisi Sings Nina at Carnegie Hall on Thursday, February 23rd. This spring, Ledisi will co-star in the feature film Spinning Gold based on the life of legendary record producer and co-founder of Casablanca Records, Neil Bogart which will be released on March 31, 2023.
